Dr. Jacob E Andersen has specialised in vibration control
engineering in connection with structural and dynamic engineering
problems. He has primarily been engaged with problems related to
structural vibrations in large traffic infrastructure constructions
induced by nature, trains, machine foundations, ship engines and
other vibration sources. Solving such problems has given large
experience in design of advanced structural monitoring systems,
instrumentation and testing of large bridges.
Dr. Andersen has also experience in blasting works, e.g.
demolition of buildings and general construction work.
Furthermore,
Dr. Andersen is employed
by COWI
where he is Market Director and Project Director in COWI's Bridges
International Business Unit. He has a wide experience as project
manager of large, complex and multi-disciplinary construction and
infrastructure projects, including project management, planning, co-ordination, negotiation with authorities,
design, tender and construction follow-up. At present, Jacob Egede Andersen is
Project Director of one of COWI's largest construction projects – the
design of the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden. The
project comprises a nuclear research facility designed in accordance
with the requirements established by the Swedish radiation safety
authorities including seismic design for 5 buildings inside the
target station, 2 experimental halls and 4 adjacent buildings.
In 2016 Jacob Egede Andersen was Project Director for
design for 48 WTG Monopile foundations in
the North Sea in project area Rentel just
outside Antwerp in Belgium and from 2013 – 2016 Project Manager for
the Service Life design for the New NY Bridge (Tappan Zee Bridge)
across the Hudson River in New York, USA.
Dr. Andersen has over 20 years of international experience were
he has been involved in major projects in e.g. Austria, Belgium,
Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Sweden,
Uganda, United Kingdom and USA.
